Chat
One show-wide crew feed, shared live between the Mac, the web Live Notes pages and every phone — with the show state right above it, which no standalone crew-chat app can do.
Turn it on per show in Project Settings → Show Chat on the Mac. An optional second toggle stores the chat with each recording for synced replay.
Messages
- Every message carries the sender's role ("Lighting (LX)", "DSM") on its chip, and their department drives the filter chips at the top of the feed.
- @mentions — type
@for an autocomplete of people on the session and departments.@namesends that person a push notification;@lx(or any department) alerts the whole department. Mentions render bold. - Inline markdown —
**bold**,*italic*and`code`render on every surface. - Text size — A− / A+ control (11–48 pt), shared across the Mac chat surfaces.
Acknowledge-required messages
Toggle the ✓ button in the composer before sending and every recipient gets an Acknowledge button on the message. The sender sees a live "✓ n" tally — hover it (or the row, on the Mac) to see exactly who has acknowledged. The stage-management classic: "Standby pyro — acknowledge."
Pinned message
Long-press a message (right-click on the Mac) → Pin to Top. One pinned message rides the top of every surface's feed — "MIC 7 DEAD — swap at interval" stays visible until unpinned.
Read receipts
"Seen by N" appears under the newest message, counting everyone whose feed has caught up (the author excluded).
Chat → note
Long-press a message → Make Note. The message becomes a Live Note back-dated to the moment it was said, so it lands on the right cue in the recording. Chat is where problems get mentioned; notes are where they get fixed.
Staying in the loop
- Unread badge on the Chat tab icon.
- Toasts on the Show Monitor page — the newest message appears for a few seconds.
- Read aloud (Settings) — incoming messages are spoken ("Dean says: standby LX 40"), handy for a busy operator who can't look down.
- On the Mac, an @mention or ack-required message bounces the Dock icon when the app is in the background.
Replay
With Store chat on, messages are stamped with the recording and video time. Playback on the Mac and the web viewer replays the chat in sync, YouTube-live style. With storage off, chat is a rolling 24-hour buffer and is never tied to recordings.
Survives anything
Chat runs over three transports at once: the LAN server, the cloud, and a peer-to-peer mesh between devices in the room. Host Mac crashes? No internet? The crew keeps talking; unsent messages queue and deliver when any route returns, and nothing ever double-posts.
