The watch relays through the phone when it can and falls back to talking to the Mac directly.

Live Activity & Dynamic Island​

On a locked iPhone, a Live Activity shows the current cue with a self-ticking since-cue timer ("LX 42 +0:14"), the show state with interval progress, the recording badge and the show's branding (the logo set in Project Settings on the Mac). Updates are pushed from the cloud, so it keeps ticking with the phone in a pocket.

It runs whenever the show is live — or a cue fired in the last hour — and clears itself two minutes after the show ends.
