TheatreMix
TheatreMix runs DCA and page changes on the sound desk. ShowRevue subscribes to its OSC event stream and records every cue it fires, so the sound cues land on the same timeline as the LX cues and the picture.
ShowRevue only listens. Apart from the subscription itself and a heartbeat, it sends TheatreMix nothing: it never fires a TheatreMix cue or touches the desk.
There's no licence gate on the TheatreMix connection.
Setup
In ShowRevue:
- Open Preferences → Audio Consoles → TheatreMix.
- Turn on Subscribe to TheatreMix.
- Set TheatreMix host to the Mac or PC running TheatreMix (
127.0.0.1if it's this Mac). - Set TheatreMix port to TheatreMix's OSC port, not ShowRevue's own cue input port.
ShowRevue's default is
9000; match whatever TheatreMix is set to, then click Apply. - The status line reads Subscribed · renews every …s, then the TheatreMix version and show.
This is an outbound subscription. ShowRevue asks TheatreMix for its events and TheatreMix sends them back on the same connection, so there's no reply port to set. The subscription renews itself.
Test it:
- Fire a cue in TheatreMix. Last cue in the TheatreMix tab shows its number and text.
- Start a recording and fire another. It's recorded as an audio cue with its number and text.
TheatreMix cue numbers can have letters in them (A.5). ShowRevue keeps the number as TheatreMix
wrote it.
On the overlay
The TheatreMix Cue widget shows the current TheatreMix cue on the picture, so it's burned into the recording.
Troubleshooting
- Couldn't subscribe. TheatreMix has too many clients. TheatreMix limits how many clients can subscribe at once. Drop one, then click Reconnect.
- Stuck on Connecting… or Subscribing…. Check the host and that the port is TheatreMix's OSC port. A firewall between the two machines can block UDP.
- Last cue updates but nothing is in the recording. Cues are only recorded while a take is rolling.
