FAQ

How can I export a section of video?

Two ways:

  • Clip between two points. In playback, set an in point with I and an out point with O on the timeline, then click the scissors (Export) button at the bottom-left of the player. The clip is saved as a standalone video.
  • A whole timecode block. Open the Timecode tab, find the block you want, and choose Export Section…. You'll be asked how much video to include before and after the section (5 seconds each by default). No pre-roll timecode is generated for time that had none in the original recording.

How do I jump to a cue?

Open the Cues tab and click any cue to jump frame-accurately to that moment, or use < / > to step between lighting cues.

How do I drop a marker?

Press M during playback to drop a named marker at the current position. Markers appear in the Events tab — tap to jump, right-click to rename or delete. They're saved with the recording.

Why is there no timecode on part of my recording?

The Timecode tab lists contiguous timecode blocks. Gaps between blocks are moments where LTC (or your other timecode source) was lost during the recording. ShowRevue records timecode from LTC, MTC/MIDI, Art-Net, and sACN, and the readout clears as soon as the feed stops. It can also send the recording's timecode back out during playback so a console or media server chases it — see Timecode.

How do I put the show on another screen?

Use Stage Display. Plug a monitor into the Mac and press ⇧⌘D to put it on that extended display (it never takes over your main screen), or open the Stage Display URL on any browser or digital-signage player. See Stage Display.

How do I take notes from my phone?

Open Live Notes on any phone or tablet — no app required. Notes are timestamped, tagged by department, and shared with the whole team. See Live Notes.

What video formats does it record?

H.264 and H.265 record to a standard MP4. ProRes LT records to a MOV with a small companion metadata file. All formats stay openable as ordinary video; open them in ShowRevue to unlock jump-to-cue and cue metadata.

Which features need a paid tier?

See Licence Tiers for the full breakdown.
