Launch New Show

Launch New Show is how a show begins in ShowRevue. It asks for everything a session needs, in the order a stage manager would set it up, and writes the project file at the end. There is no other setup path: the old New Project and template screens are gone.

Open it from any of these:

  • the Welcome window at launch, with Launch New Show
  • File → New Project (⌘N)
  • Window → Set Up → Launch New Show…
  • Help → Launch New Show…

The dots in the title bar show where you are, and the step name sits under the title. Back and Next move through the pages; the last one has Create Show. The list of pages isn't fixed: picking a lighting console, a media server or a timecode source adds a setup page for it straight after the pick, and picking none leaves that page out. Skip setup at the bottom creates the show now with whatever you have set so far, and everything you skipped waits in Project Settings and Preferences. The close button in the title bar shuts the wizard without creating anything. It starts fresh every time it opens.

Show details​

The name field opens focused with a generated name selected, so the first thing you type replaces it. The name appears on recordings, overlays, Stage Display and exported cue lists, and you can change it later in Project Settings. The wizard does not move on without a name.

Acts & schedule​

Step 2: number of acts, first and last cue per act, interval minutes, curtain times

Set the number of acts, one to six. For each act enter its first and last cue and the length of the interval that follows it, in minutes. Then add the curtain times. Together these give the show its start and end cues, the interval timing, and the show times that Show State and the reports work from.

Camera source​

Step 3: video source type, camera picker and live preview

Pick the source type, Camera or NDI.

  • Camera. Choose the device (USB camera, capture card, or an iPhone as a webcam) and check the preview. Whatever is in the preview is what gets recorded.
  • NDI. The NDI source menu reads Searching… while ShowRevue looks around the network, then lists what it finds. Pick one and the preview comes up. A source you saved before that isn't on the network today stays in the list marked (offline). The review page shows it as NDI · source name. If the NDI runtime isn't installed, the page says so: install it from ndi.video and restart ShowRevue.

Program audio​

Step 4: program audio device, channel and level meter

Pick the program audio input device and channel. The meter confirms signal. Monitor is off by default. Turn it on and an Output menu appears for the device you want to listen on. Left on System default, it plays through whatever the Mac is set to, so check that first.

  • grandMA3 or ETC Eos: OSC cue input, and cues fired back.
  • grandMA2: MIDI Show Control cue input.
  • No console: set it up later in Preferences.

grandMA3 and ETC Eos setup​

Enter the Console IP (only needed to fire cues back; a Use button fills in a desk ShowRevue has already heard from), the Send port and the Cue input port. The cue input port is 8000 out of the box, but ShowRevue remembers whatever was last used, so set the desk to what the box says. Then test both ways: fire a cue on the desk and Cue received from the desk ticks with what arrived; type a cue number, click Send GO, and click Confirm once the desk takes it. Fire-back targets the sequence or cue list the wizard captured from the incoming cue.

grandMA2 setup​

The grandMA2 page lists the MIDI sources the Mac can see. There's nothing to choose: ShowRevue listens on every MIDI input and accepts any MSC device ID. On the MA2, go to Setup → System → MIDI and enable Send MIDI Show Control. Press GO on the desk and Cue received from the desk ticks with the page and cue number. It is receive only: there's no console IP, no Send GO and no fire-back to an MA2. The review page shows grandMA2 · MIDI MSC cue input. See MIDI setup for interfaces and troubleshooting.

Media server​

Step 6: choose QLab, Pixera, disguise or no media server

Optional. QLab gives cue start and stop with running-cue progress; Pixera timeline transport with running-cue feedback; disguise (d3) transport and section following. Each adds a setup step that connects and runs a follow test: fired, stopped, fired again. No media server leaves it for Project Settings.

Timecode​

Step 7: choose LTC, MTC, sACN, Art-Net, disguise or no timecode

Pick LTC from an audio input and channel, MTC (read from every connected MIDI input), sACN or Art-Net over the network with a network-interface picker, disguise (d3) timecode feedback, or none. Picking a source adds a setup page that waits for it and shows it locked. For LTC it also shows a level meter for the chosen channel. MTC over USB or network MIDI is covered in MIDI setup.

Cloud & team​

Step 8: create a cloud show, team emails and show image

Optional. Create a cloud show turns on Live Notes, remote crew and run-time history, synced to a show code. It needs a signed-in account; the step shows the account and its licence tier. Add team email addresses, comma-separated, and a show image for the report, Stage Display and Live Notes. The cloud show is created and the image uploaded when you press Create Show.

Review & create​

Step 9: summary and the Create Show button

Check the summary and press Create Show. ShowRevue asks where to save the .srshow project file, writes it, switches on everything you set, and opens the show in Live mode.

After the show is open​

  1. Fire a cue from the console and confirm it appears in the cue list.
  2. Check the audio meters on the input tracks.
  3. Start a short recording, stop it, and open it in Playback.

The session type menu beside Record picks Off Venue Rehearsal, Tech, Dress or Show. A Show session is show-safe: Stop becomes Hold to stop, and no cue commands go to the console while it records. See Show Safety.

Everything the wizard set lives in Project Settings and Preferences afterwards, so nothing here is a one-time decision.
