Cloud Shows and the Team
Live Notes on your own network covers everyone in the room. A cloud show brings in the people who aren't: the director at home, the designer in another city, the producer who wants the report. They take notes from a browser or the companion app, and the notes land on your recording at the moment they were written.
Hosting a cloud show needs the Max licence tier. A Professional licence created before 1 Jan 2027 keeps it. Following a show is free on every tier, Viewer included.
:::note Beta During the beta most features treat every valid licence as Max. Creating a cloud show is the exception: it checks the tier on your licence itself (here and on the server), so a Base or newer Professional licence can't host one yet. :::
Create the cloud show
Projects are local-first. A show stays on your Mac until you put it in the cloud.
- Sign in under Preferences → Account.
- Open Project Settings → Cloud and click Create cloud project. (If you turned on Create a cloud show in Launch New Show, it's already done.)
- ShowRevue makes a Show Code for the show, with Copy beside it, and a Share section with the link (
showrevue.com/livenotes/<CODE>) and a QR code. Show QR opens a big one to put on screen.
The .srshow keeps working offline either way.
The rest of the Cloud tab:
- New code swaps the show code for a fresh one. Disable takes the show offline.
- Cloud Status shows whether the Mac is connected.
- Upload note snapshots to the cloud. On, each note's camera frame goes up so the team can see and draw on it. Off, notes sync as text only. Local Live Notes still keeps its snapshots.
- Report. What happens to the session report: Send report automatically, Store a draft report in the cloud, or Store a draft and notify the stage manager. Auto-send also asks Send when: after every recording, once a day (the day's last recording), or only a completed show that reaches its end cue.
- Reconnect. Made a new project but want the old cloud show back? Type its code under Existing show code and click Reconnect to get its team, notes and run-time history. It only works for a code you created.
- Run this Mac as a backup host. The Mac captures the show but doesn't publish until the main host goes quiet, then takes over.
Who gets in
Having the code or the link isn't enough on its own. Every person has to be approved.
- Send someone the link. They open it in a browser, sign in with a free ShowRevue account, and ask to join.
- Their request appears in Project Settings → Members under WAITING FOR APPROVAL.
- Click Approve to let them in, or Reject.
You can also add people ahead of time: type an email in Add people by email, press return. They show as Invited until they sign in.
Members and rights
The Members tab has a row per person and a tick box for each right:
| Right | Lets them |
|---|---|
| Notes | Post notes to the show. Off means view-only. |
| Delete | Delete or edit other people's notes. Everyone can always edit their own. |
| Record | Start and stop the recording from the companion app. |
| Messages | Send Stage Display messages. |
| Approve | Approve pending join requests. |
| Reports | Get the session report PDF by email after each session. |
Owners and co-owners hold every right. Rights are enforced by the cloud, not just shown on the Mac. Check a new member's row once you've approved them. Give the director Notes and Reports, say, and leave Record to the SM.
Copy rights from… copies everyone's rights from another of your cloud shows, which saves setting up the same company twice.
Following a show
Crew who only need to follow along can use Join a Show on the welcome window. It opens ShowRevue Monitor with the current cue, timecode, show state and notes, on the local network or through the cloud. Following is free on every licence.
On a phone or iPad, the companion app does the same. It's in beta through TestFlight, not on the App Store yet.
